Tax Management NZ (TMNZ) recently made a donation to one of the three charities selected for the Christmas giving campaign.
During a morning tea held at our office last Friday, TMNZ CEO Chris Cunniffe presented a cheque of $2,800 to Breakfast Club general manager Steve Farrelly.
Steve spoke to staff about how Breakfast Club was started, the work it does with lower decile schools in Auckland and the positive impact this has had on student attendance.
It was inspiring to hear the stories and learn that the charity’s work encompasses more than just providing school children with breakfast.
TMNZ will also present cheques to Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand and Women’s Refuge this month.
To get into the Christmas spirit last year, TMNZ put aside $10,000 to give to three charities and let our clients have a say in where some of that money went.
About Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club was formed in 2010 in Manurewa’s Randwick Park with the intention of providing breakfast to children to enable them to reach their full potential at school.
It also has a presence in primary schools in Glen Innes.
Breakfast Club works alongside school social workers and principals and set up food banks, vegetable gardens and sports academies.
A number of schools have expressed an interest in replicating what it does.
