Exciting new changes to the TMNZ website

Exciting new changes to the TMNZ website Lloyd Evaroa

Having listened carefully to our clients and agents about what you need from your online TMNZ account, TMNZ is proud to unveil some improvements to our public website and logged in areas.

As you will see, a lot has changed. The look and feel of the website (both the public and logged in areas) has been updated to fully capture the idea behind Tax on Your Terms. It’s about empowering clients with the flexibility to pay your provisional tax how and when you want.

The changes outlined here are part of our ongoing strategy to ensure we are providing the best service both now and when the new provisional tax rules come into effect in April.

TMNZ would like to thank those clients who provided feedback. The insights you shared from using our old dashboard were valuable when it came to designing the new look, feel and functionality of the logged-in area. While we continue to recruit and expand our Client Service team, we know that a user-friendly online system is key for many of you.

Below you will find an overview of the key changes we have made.

New Advantage and Flexi accounts

To help make it easier for clients to manage their provisional tax payments, we have launched two new accounts:

  • Advantage account, allowing taxpayers to hold tax in the pool (‘depositors’) and
  • Flexi accounts – make all your tax payments, on dates and in amounts that suit you, but it will flow through to IRD on the right dates.

Easier to manage and add accounts

You will now be able to easily view and edit all of the accounts you manage, as well as add new ones from one place, and with one login. For those of you in a Tax Firm, you can be set up as Administrators (this will be the default on go-live) so that you can view and manage any account in your firm. There is a privacy setting so that if you want to manage your personal tax – or sensitive clients – from the same login, you can do that too without hassle.

Secure calculators

You will notice we have taken our calculators off the public website. They will continue to be available in the logged in area, where it’s easy for you to ensure the right taxpayer information is fed in, in a secure manner. We want to make sure your private information remains that way.

Furthermore, by putting it in the logged-in area, it allows you to save and edit quotes for future use, saving you a lot of time in the long run.

Flexitax® as the way to pay provisional tax

Flexitax® is now the main way for you to pay provisional tax through TMNZ. Similar to Tax Purchase, you can use Flexitax® to reduce costs on missed or underpaid income tax, with the added bonus that it can help with upcoming payments in the current year also. By using Flexitax® you’ll save up to 30% on interest costs and eliminate late payment penalties for any current year liability.

Greater visibility

The new dashboard provides a snapshot of your recent transactions with TMNZ, upcoming payment dates of which you need to be aware and quick links to transact.

A simpler process to add new users and give them access

New functionality allows you to manage requests by users to access your accounts. Persons who do not have access to accounts will be able to request this from you directly.

Greater control over communication preferences

We have given you the option to choose the emails you receive when transacting with TMNZ. You can customise these for each taxpayer whose payments you manage, and set them for other people you have given access to the account.

We have other improvements in the pipeline which we will be rolling out in due course that will build on this current release. Watch this space.

As always, our clients are the forefront of our innovation and we value your feedback. Please do not hesitate to email our Chief Operating Officer Mara Fisher at mara.fisher@tmnz.co.nz if you wish to share your thoughts on the look, feel and functionality of your dashboard. We are committed to continuous innovation and improvement and we want to hear your thoughts.
