Our team

Our team

100% invested for good

Alongside our philanthropic partner, Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation, we’re bringing our shared vision of a restored and thriving Aotearoa to life. See some of the ways we’re making an impact.

Our people tell us they’re proud to work for a purpose-led business, and the values which underpin our purpose are: Be the Change; Be Socially Conscious; Collaborate & Connect and Make it Easy.

We’re invested in creating a culture where our people and their careers can thrive. For example, we run emotional culture workshops; tailored L&D support for every employee; te reo Māori education, flexible work and generous leave arrangements.

The TMNZ ‘I Care’ initiative has been created to provide all our people (each year) with the opportunity to select a charity or cause they care most about, to receive a $1000 investment from TMNZ. We’ve donated to over 50 charities since the I Care initiate began in 2021.

We’re committed to delivering innovative tax payment and cashflow solutions, and to help build a better tax environment. For example, we led the formation of New Zealand’s Tax Technology Working Group, we lead the annual NZ Tax Experience Survey, in partnership with CA ANZ and we also fund and drive the Tax Policy Charitable Trust Awards and Forum.

We’re proud to have supported more than 100,000 taxpayers and over 2,000 accounting firms across New Zealand. With our growing team of over 60 people throughout New Zealand, and the largest tax pool in New Zealand (with up to $10bn) we’ve saved taxpayers more than $500 million in interest.

For our communities and the environment, we’re proud to commit 100% of our profits to our philanthropic partner, Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation, to invest for a restored and thriving Aotearoa. For example, we’ve provided investment for:

  • Waste reduction and the circular economy: All Heart NZ, Mindful Fashion NZ, and NZ Food Waste Champions
  • Conservation and environmental issues: Live Ocean Foundation, Rotoroa Island Trust, Auckland Climate Festival and Tane’s Tree Trust
  • Social and community issues: Te Whangai Trust, and Upside Youth Mentoring
  • Responding to crisis: Youthline, Respect, Shine, NZ Women’s Refuge, I am Hope, and Bellyful

Innovating to improve the tax environment

We're the tax pooling originators

An origin story shared by thousands of great Kiwi businesses. Including ours.

It all started back in 2003 when our founder, Ian Kuperus, had one of those big ideas. To make tax easier and save homegrown businesses money. A big idea that Inland Revenue threw their support behind (thanks team). That kick started an industry. And that has, over the last 20 plus years, changed New Zealand’s tax environment for good. Over 100,000 taxpayers have saved more than $500 million, by using TMNZ’s flexible and innovative tax payment solutions. That’s why Ian has been recognised as an EY Entrepreneur of The Year winner, for business and social entrepreneurship.
