Now in its fifth year, GLOW 2013 – Carols by Glowstick attracted around 10,000 Aucklanders – including a 200-strong group of Tax Management NZ (TMNZ) staff, family and clients – who gathered together under one gigantic roof for a spectacular Christmas celebration in Auckland last week (December 15).
When the lights were turned off at Vector Arena, 10,000 glowsticks lit up and waved to the music. It was an incredible sight to behold.
Ian Kuperus, TMNZ’s director says: “We feel very privileged to be part of this fantastic fun annual event organised by St Paul’s Church. As a long term sponsor, TMNZ is delighted that GLOW raised over $20,000 for TEAR Fund and a sizeable donation went to the Auckland City Mission for their food bank.
“Not only is it a wonderful gift to Auckland but, through the TEAR Fund, it’s a great way to directly help the world’s poorest people in 24 developing nations. And through Auckland City Mission, it’s also a way we can provide for some of the less fortunate among us here in Auckland,” says Kuperus.
Several longstanding TMNZ staff members attended the event. Chief Customer Officer, Liz Taylor who has worked at the company since 2010: “GLOW is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the age old favourite Christmas Carols and absorb a good dose of Christmas spirit.”
Martin Bing, Manager Business Partners, took his young daughters along. “GLOW is a wonderful time to enjoy the true message of Christmas with friends and family. The kids had a great time grabbing as many glowsticks as they could!”
St Paul’s Church Manager Peter Cox says he is grateful for the support of TMNZ. “Without major sponsors like TMNZ, it would not be possible to hold the GLOW event. Having secured their ongoing sponsorship, we are already starting to plan GLOW 2014!”
