A great time was had by accountants, both from public practice and commercial roles, at the Tax Management NZ (TMNZ) roadshow at Wellington’s St James Theatre.
BNZ Head of Research Stephen Toplis and Inland Revenue Investigations and Advice Manager Tony Morris provided attendees with an update on the economy and IR’s compliance focus and business transformation project respectively.
Stephen’s analysis pointed to a slowing of growth in the New Zealand economy, but also showed that there was still room to move with fiscal policy to protect New Zealand from recession.
Tony provided interesting insights into IR’s investigations into the hidden economy, especially focussing on the hospitality and construction sectors.
TMNZ’s Chief Executive Officer Chris Cunniffe rounded off the afternoon by explaining how tax pooling can be used to help taxpayers in audit situations and provide cashflow solutions around provisional tax.
Many attendees stayed afterwards to network over drinks and nibbles.
Below are some of the roadshow photos, which were taken by Mark Fa’amaoni of Big Mark Photography.
TMNZ looks forward to holding another event such as this in Wellington in the future.
