The first round of TMNZ roadshows was a success, with four events held across Auckland, Napier and Dunedin.
We would like to thank those who have attended any of the TMNZ Roadshows so far. Check out the photos and keep updated on upcoming events by liking our page on Facebook.
The TMNZ Roadshow was an opportunity for our CEO Chris Cunniffe to provide an update to a large number of tax professionals on the future of tax pooling.
Staff from Inland Revenue’s investigations and policy teams also spoke about the organisation’s compliance focus and future business tax changes.
More roadshows will be scheduled in the second round later in the year.
In the wake of IRD’s proposed changes to provisional tax, Chris’ presentation touched on how tax pooling provides provisional taxpayers of all sizes with greater flexibility around how and when they make their income tax payments.
An infographic explaining the changes to provisional tax and where tax pooling can be of assistance can be found below:
IRD’s investigations unit provided an update on the work it is doing to combat tax avoidance in what it dubs the ‘Hidden Economy’ and property space. Their full presentation can be viewed below:
The presentation about AIM, which is scheduled to come into effect on 1 April 2018 (subject to legislation being approved), looked at how it will work and how payments might be calculated. Presentation slides are available below:
