Nearly 2500 Facebook users have helped Tax Management NZ (TMNZ) decide how we will donate $20,000 to charity this Christmas.
Each year, we get into the festive spirit by giving money to charitable organisations to acknowledge the good work they do in the community. KidsCan, Mental Health Foundation, Forest & Bird, Tearfund and Rhema Media were this year’s lucky recipients.
In previous years, we have limited voting to just our clients.
However, this year, we let a wider audience have a say on how a portion of the $20,000 was allocated through a poll on our Facebook page. Each charity was allocated a unique hashtag and voters used this in the poll’s comments section to signal their preference.
The poll closed at midday on 15 December, with 2456 people voting.
As a result, TMNZ will donate $5420 to Mental Health Foundation, $5264 to Rhema Media, $3392 to Forest & Bird, $3372 to KidsCan, and $2552 to Tearfund.
TMNZ is overwhelmed by the number of people who voted and would like to thank them for doing so. We would also grateful to charities for giving us the opportunity to do this.
We will present cheques to the charities in due course.
